We opted for a neighborhood party instead of driving and trying to find "the" spot to watch city fireworks. The kids ran around, ate too much watermelon, and enjoyed watching the fireworks in the street.
We always stay home for the 4th - that's when living at the top of the hill really pays off. We get to see all the fireworks. (And since we only live 3 miles from an Indian reservation - where it's legal to sell big fireworks, we have plenty to see)

That sounds like the best 4th of July ever!
I love sparklers! She is looking so grown up!
We had a horrid time trying to catch a max train back from the city. (9 trains or so)
So, next year I'm liking our chances for staying closer to home.
Emma looks like she is twirling a baton. Too cute!
By the way, can I borrower her for the next six to eight weeks? I am in desperate need of a sister for Lauren.... no explanation needed I'm sure.
I won't show that picture to my girls-they will be so jealous of your fireworks.
