Saturday is a Special Day

I've been meaning to make a "Family Home Evening" plaque for..let's just say a while. Tia has one that I love and originally thought that I'd try and make.

<- This is what I came up with.

Now that I've made it I should be more motivated to actually have Family Night, right?

So, is that wood or scrapbook paper or decoupage? Details, details!

And I love it. Of course I do.

My guess is paper decoupaged on wood.

We made up a 6 month calendar with only Mondays on it. We then decided who taught on what nights (we only have 4 usually to work with), so the 1st Monday Daniel teaches, 2nd - Alex, 3rd - me, 4th - Steve. We then rotated who was conducting - and we didn't bother assigning anything else. THEN we brainstormed topics for each of the weeks. Sometimes a birthday or holiday coincides, so that's a given. We are fairly flexible - I often sign up to feed the missionaries on Monday nights. They always want to "leave a message" - so there's the lesson taken care of, and since we had "company" for dinner, there was dessert (aka FHE treat).

Good luck on using your chart! It looks great.

So, it is chipboard letters that were already decorated from Michael's. I was in the "I just want to get it done" mood and I went with what I found first. The names at the bottom are stickers that I had. I didn't even mod podge anything I figured that I would be happier to have it done then "exactly" how I wanted it.

I think that I'm going to take Deb's idea and brainstorm on topics.

I like it. It looks greats.

Assigning topics in advance makes it much easier. Yolu can always change if you need to but choosing a last minute topic can be as hard as preparing the lesson.
